| Thought, Professional & Jazzy Why did Sting stop recording music? It sure couldnt have been for a lack of ideas. This collection is absolutely, and purposely, authentic jazz and has some of real jazzs best qualities: high level musicianship & swing; yet lacks what many dislike about some jazz: superfluous complexity. The record definately swings and bops and even funks, without force or pretention. The song All This Time purposely lacks the vocal dynamics and emotion of the original but gives a restrained boplicity. The highpoint of the set is an awesome arrangement of the Police classic Roxanne, alone worth the price of the disc. This is about as perfect a sound on a live jazz record as youll ever hear. Of special note is, the always stellar, Christian McBrides bass work. By St. Davey (Windham, Me.) Review is for a different format. |
